SIG Sauer

SIG, also known as Swiss Industrial Company, is a Swiss-based firearms manufacturer with a long and storied history dating back to the mid-19th century. The company was founded in 1853 by Friedrich Peyer im Hof, Heinrich Moser, and Conrad Neher as a Swiss wagon factory. In the following decades, the company expanded into other areas of manufacturing, including bicycles, sewing machines, and watches.

It wasn’t until the early 20th century that SIG began to focus on the production of firearms. In 1929, the company merged with Schweizerische Waggonfabrik, a Swiss wagon manufacturer, and formed SIG Neuhausen, which would later become known simply as SIG. The company’s first foray into the firearms industry was the production of rifles for the Swiss military, including the SIG Stgw 57 and the SIG SG 510.

In the 1970s, SIG expanded into the civilian market, producing a range of handguns and rifles for law enforcement and civilian use. Some of their popular models include the SIG Sauer P220 and P226, which are widely used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world. The company also produces a range of other firearms, including shotguns, carbines, and submachine guns.

They have developed new materials and technologies, such as the use of polymers in their firearms, and have introduced a range of new models, including the SIG Sauer P320, a striker-fired pistol that has gained widespread popularity in the civilian market.
